Pastoral Exhortation

Verses For Memorization

PrintE-mail

We embark on our memory verse programme with the following thirty verses on the Word of God. Our plan is to memorise verses under various topics. Today, we print the first part of the hundred verses that we would like to commit to memory this year.

I would urge you to memorise them in three months. Make every effort to memorise them by the end of March. I would like to call on all fellowship groups to encourage your participants to memorise these verses. Likewise, let every family also encourage one another to learn them by heart. This will certainly bring great spiritual dividends to our souls. May God grant you the joy and strength to memorise His Word.

Scripture/Word of God
Inspiration of the Scripture

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Peter 1:21
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Infallibility, Inerrancy, Perfection and Preservation of the Scripture

Psalm 12:6-7
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Matthew 5:18
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Matthew 24:35 (Mark 13:31; Luke 21:33)
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

1 Peter 1:24-25
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Authority and Power of the Scripture

Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Sufficiency and Blessings of the Scripture

Psalm 19:7-9
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true
and righteous altogether.

Psalm 19:10
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Psalm 119:103
103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Psalm 119:105
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 119:130
130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Matthew 4:4
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Christ and His Salvation in the Scripture

John 5:39
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Luke 24:27
27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Reading, Meditation, Hearing and Obedience of the Scripture

Joshua 1:8
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Psalm 1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

James 1:21-25
21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Revelation 1:3
3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those
things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
