The Bible Witness magazine, as many of you know, is published on a bimonthly basis. On certain occasions, it comes out quarterly, like the latest issue, which commemorates two significant events namely the 400th year of the King James Version and the 10th year of Bible Witness Media Ministry. Through the years, the BW magazine has devoted every issue to a particular theme that features topics of doctrinal and practical importance.

My present work at BW Magazine deals mainly with soliciting and extracting articles from different writers, which I would then compile and collate to fit a particular theme. Once this has been done, the frenzy to beat the deadline begins as all material content undergoes editing and proofreading. At the same time, the layout, design and illustrations for the magazine will also take shape. I can say that I am most privileged to be the first one to read and handle every article before it even comes off the press and is sent to the far corners of the world. Hard copies of the BW magazine are distributed freely to practically every continent on this planet.

I became more involved in the BWMM beginning in 2009, right after my teaching stint at BCEA in Kenya. I have been very blessed these past three years to co-labour with a splendid team headed by Pastor Koshy. It is somehow a bittersweet, or rather, a sweetly bitter situation for me as I have never been able to secure a Singapore work permit that will allow me to serve in this ministry full-time. We have applied twice and in both cases these were turned down by the MOM. But I do continue to hope and pray that maybe, just maybe, one day the Lord will make the way.

May the Lord's name be forever praised.

We have seen the providential hand of God in the setting up of the BWWR ministry and we now continue to recount the blessings of His favour upon us, who are so privileged to have a part in the work of the Lord. With the increased availability of high-speed Internet connections, and mobile broadband networks, we pray that the Lord will help us to use such technology to spread the Gospel around the world.

Since this ministry first began, the Lord has been faithful to provide all the resources needed to set up this work. In January 2007, BWWR was registered with the Media Development Authority of Singapore. We were the first registered Christian Internet radio station in Singapore. As we were unsure about setting up an Internet radio, the Lord brought people to help us. He provided brethren and friends who had the expertise and knowledge on things like setting up a sound studio and purchasing suitable audio equipment.

We also did not know how to begin finding out about copyright and licensing issues for broadcasting Christian music on the Internet. Some of the large record companies that we contacted wanted to charge us thousands of dollars for their help. But God proved that He would provide for His work. We contacted the licensing authority, and the person who responded was a Christian who knew about Pastor Koshy and Gethsemane B-P Church. He was eager to help with the Lord’s work and to promote the Gospel cause, and he also gave us valuable information and advice.

God also provided the money needed for the expenses through generous love gifts from our members and friends. We spent over $35,000 on all our Bible Witness Media Ministry resources - the studio, piano, servers, computers and other equipment. And all of it came from His good hand. With the BWMM recording studio, the Lord also enabled us to produce CDs and record content for broadcasting on the Internet. We are also thankful that God provides us with the resources to maintain the BWWR each month, and not just the financial. None of us is specifically trained in the areas where we serve, but we rely much on God’s grace and wisdom to help us in doing the tasks that He has appointed us to do. Please pray for us, that the Lord will help us to have the wisdom and resources to come up with good programmes for our listeners.

We thank God for all the brethren who colabour with us in this ministry, whether it is preaching and teaching God’s Word to the lost, or singing and playing music that comforts the souls in distress.

In July 2006, the Lord convicted my heart, to give my life wholly to His service, and since then, He has allowed me to have a part in the Bible Witness Web Radio ministry. I am thankful for the opportunities that God gives me to serve Him. In these past years, the Lord has taught me patience and submission to His will. In my struggles, God gives hope for the perfecting work of patience (James 1:4), and my heart is greatly comforted to know that my Lord walks with me. I thank the Lord for every trial He sends my way, for without these, I know I would attempt to do all things with my own strength and foolish wisdom. But looking to Christ my Lord gives me the resolve to pour out my all for Him and for the gospel cause. Dear brethren, the day of the Lord is fast approaching, let us haste unto the coming of the Lord! All glory be unto Him!

As some of you know, we have a programme for the sisters called Women of Virtue (WOV). It was started in March 2009, and is aired on a weekly basis with 4 repeats in a week. Each week’s programme is about half an hour long. You can find the airing schedule from the programme guide on the website. In WOV, we have programmes such as devotions, testimonies, Q and A sessions, discussions, book readings, sermon extracts, poems, songs, etc. Some of the topics we have thus far on WOV include character studies on various women of the Bible; a series on the Proverbs 31 Woman; biblical motherhood, discipline of children, old age, singlehood, marriage, etc. For the discussions and Q and A sessions, we focus more on virtues such as hospitality, prayerfulness, meekness, purity of thought, and so on. We also talk about overcoming sins common to women. So the objective and our prayer for the ladies’ segment is to inculcate good Christian values and virtues in our sisters. You can find out more on WOV by clicking “On Demand” on the BWWR website. The topics are available for you to choose from and listen to anytime at your own convenience. So if you are unable to follow the scheduled airing time, you may assess the archive whenever you are free.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the sisters who have cheerfully rendered their service in this ministry, be it reading out poems or book excerpts, writing and recording their testimonies, giving their questions for the Q and A sessions, writing scripts, singing, and even helping with the publicity, particularly the publicity cards. Many contributors are mothers who have family commitments, so we are grateful for the time they have set aside for this ministry whenever they are approached to help. We are also grateful for the preachers who have faithfully produced and recorded the devotions despite their busy schedule, and for church members who have supported WOV in one way or another such as giving their encouragement, feedback and suggestions, praying for us, or simply tuning in to the web radio. We are thankful for all of you.

On a personal note, I thank God for calling me to serve Him full-time here in Gethsemane. I came into the full-time ministry in Jan 2008, and have been very blessed in serving the Lord. I have learnt not just the technical aspect of audio recording and editing, but more so spiritual lessons from the readings, devotions and discussions on WOV. I have also been encouraged by the testimonies and sharings from the sisters who did their recordings, and their cheerful labour of love and effort. I thank God too for the work and lives of my colabourers in CRC, who have been my examples to follow, particularly Pastor and sis Melissa who have constantly guided and helped me in many ways. God has truly used many people to minister to me, and to sustain WOV. Above all is His faithfulness. It is truly by His grace that we are able to produce each week’s programme even though there are occasional struggles and technical problems. God is constantly teaching us humility and dependence upon Him. Please pray for this ministry, that there may be new ideas, good reading material, as well as continued effectiveness and joy to serve our Master. We also encourage all sisters to tune in to WOV whenever you are free. May God’s name be praised.

The Bible Witness Bookroom ministry started in September 2005. Pastor Koshy had been praying for some years to have a bookroom ministry in the town area. By the guidance and provision of God, a place was available in Hong Lim Complex through a sister who loves the work of the Lord. The Bookroom is to be a place where likeminded Christians in the town area can gather together to have a time of studying God’s Word and engaging in prayer.

The Bookroom started with 1,800 books and through the years it had increased to 2,200 books. Some FEBC students have made use of the facilities in the Bookroom to do research work for their thesis. They have found the Bookroom to be very useful. Many laypersons in their desire to have a more in-depth knowledge of the Word of God have also come to the Bookroom to read the books available. The books in the Bookroom cover a wide variety of subjects. There are books on Christian living, parenting, prayers, theology, etc, just to name a few. There is also a computer room where we have 2 computers that have Logos program. This program is very good for serious students of the Word of God.

Every Wednesday at 1.15 pm, we have our midweek Bible study. The average attendance is about 12–15 brothers and sisters. The group consists mainly of workers from the vicinity and some members of our sister B-P churches. Pastor Koshy leads the Bible study and thus far we have finished the books of 1 and 2 Peter, and the Gospel of John. We are now on the book of Revelation. It is very heartening to see that despite their busy schedule at work, the brothers and sisters are so fervent in their desire to learn God’s Word. Besides this, the Seniors’ Ministry of Gethsemane B-P Church also meets regularly at the Bookroom for their fellowship meeting.

Thank God for sustaining the Bookroom for the last 6 years.

I am very thankful to God for allowing me to serve in the Bible Witness Bookroom. During these years at the Bookroom, I am especially encouraged to see brothers and sisters who are very fervent in studying God’s Word. They came almost without fail every week for the lunchtime Bible study. The Bible study group, which started with about 10 persons, has now increased to about 20 persons. I was also most uplifted when a sister who attended the Bible study, saw the need to attend church regularly, and came to Gethsemane B-P Church.

It is also in my service in the Bookroom that I see how Pastor Koshy labours tirelessly to feed the flock. Despite his busy schedule and ill health, he will not miss any opportunity to feed his flock. I have much to learn from his example of faithfulness and commitment to God’s Word.

The BWMM library has a large collection of books that are most helpful for the edification of souls. It is my prayer that more people will make use of the facilities in the Bookroom to equip themselves with the Word of God, and that more people will join the lunchtime Bible study to equip and refresh themselves, for it is very detailed and edifying. Pray also that the Bookroom will be an effective Gospel station. There is now a Roman Catholic attending the Bible study. Do pray that he will turn to the Lord.

Please continue to pray for the Bookroom that God will continue to sustain it and that more people, whether they be full-time students or laypersons, would come and make use of the facilities in the Bookroom. Continue to pray that the lunchtime Bible study will be well attended. Pray for Pastor Koshy that God will give him special grace to teach in the Bible study. Also pray for me that I will be faithful in my service in the Bookroom. May all glory and honour be to God.
