My dear Gethsemaneans,

I am very thankful to be back after a “whirlwind trip” to our Ethiopian mission field. The company of Bro Gan Chin Hwi was particularly delightful and helpful in this mission journey. We both appreciate your earnest prayers for our journey; and are glad to report that the Lord has blessed us in accomplishing the purpose of our trip. As you know, our purpose was threefold; firstly, to evaluate the construction of the fence around the property we have acquired; secondly, to discuss with the building contractor concerning the design of the building and also the plans for the construction; and thirdly, to encourage Rev Ephrem Chiracho, his co-workers and the congregation through fellowship and preaching of the word of God.

Bro Gan is writing a report about our journey; and he will briefly explain what have already been achieved and what else we are planning to do. His report will be published next Lord’s day, God willing. Bro Gan’s expertise in the field of construction has provided our brethren in Ethiopia with very valuable advice in the matters of design and planning of the construction of the church and Bible college.

Brethren, we desire in the Lord to see all the major construction work being completed by the end of 2011. This is certainly a very bold wish, but by His grace, we will. Moreover, this has been our prayer for about two years now. He will answer our prayers for His glory.

I also trust that you have not forgotten our plans to hold our next Missionary Conference in Ethiopia at the end of this year. It is during this conference that we hope to hold the inauguration of the Bible college. We are not alone in this project. Many of our friends from sister churches and the dear folks in all our mission churches are also praying with us. May God fulfil our desires for His sake.

O brethren, we cannot achieve these things on our own. We also have the care of other mission stations as well. We have to stand together with our mission churches in Cebu, Bohol, Bogo and San Antonio as they also press forward in the work of the Lord.

“Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain” (Psalm 127:1). Let us come together in prayer more often than before. Be present at Tuesday prayer meetings. I would also like to issue a special call to all those who are in ‘the Prayer-Partners Ministry’ that you muster your strength to come more often in prayers.

As much as we remain focused in striving forward in the work of the Lord, we must also be watchful and beware of the cunning devices of the devil to mislead and distract us from being faithful to the Lord. Our preachers and missionaries must be single-minded in the Lord’s work, avoiding selfish and worldly ideas, always fully consumed by the truth of God’s Word. Our congregations must remain holy, avoiding the lust of the flesh and worldliness. Our projects and efforts must always be only for the Gospel’s sake. So let us watch and pray that we enter not into temptation (cf. Matthew 26:41).

Lovingly your pastor
Prabhudas Koshy
